Keeping well happens in different ways for different people. We take pride in finding ways to support our clients in their journey to wellness. To this end we offer the following programs to our community. Our Registered Nurses can assist our clients and their families to navigate the health care system. They can coach and mentor families, to empower them, so they can experience better interactions with health care professionals. They can teach and provide information that will support our clients to make independent decisions about their well-being.
Residents of the Saanich Peninsula who can no longer bath safely at home can arrange to be bathed in the Centre’s specially designed bath tubs. Each bath is attended by a Health Care Assistant, who will provide help with dressing and grooming.
Monitoring blood pressure is an important aspect of well being. Coming to have your blood pressure taken is also a reason to discuss other health issues that might worry you. Our clinic Registered Nurses can provide coaching and mentoring for a number of chronic diseases as well as social and mental health issues.
Blood pressure clinics are held Wednesdays and Saturdays between 8:30 and 12:30.
A registered podiatrist, Dr. Kent Butler, visits Mount Newton Centre on Wednesdays from 9:00 to 4:00 to provide thorough foot care to our seniors living on the Saanich Peninsula. In addition to trimming nails, the doctor also treats common foot problems such as bunions, calluses, and corns.
