The four-hour program begins, for participants, with transportation on our community donated bus to and from their homes each day. Seniors have the opportunity to meet in the sunroom and visit with friends over tea and coffee while enjoying our famous, fresh-baked, Mount Newton Centre muffins. The day’s program includes socializing, games, chair exercises and often musical entertainment is offered by local volunteer musicians. A nutritious, home cooked lunch is served in the dining room.
This enhanced program has a staffing ratio of 1 Health Care Assistants to 4 seniors (instead of the funded ratio of 1:5). The staffing reflects the Mount Newton Centre Society’s commitment to quality care and safety for people who live with physical frailty and mild dementia. The Society provides the balance of the funding needed, attained solely by community donations, in order to offer this indispensable adult day program.
