May 2020 Newsletter & COVID-19 Update

First of all, we wish to say THANK YOU to everyone that has and continues to support Mount Newton Centre Society and the work we do for our community.

We dearly miss all our clients and look forward to enjoying our time together again in the near future.
On March 13, 2020 Mount Newton Centre closed our Community Bathing and Adult Day Programs due to the risk of Covid19.

Since March 16th Bridget and Lynn have been in touch with our clients by phone to ensure they are keeping well. Over the last few weeks Bridget and the staff at Mount Newton Centre have implemented meal service and grocery service programs to help our regular clients to stay safe in their homes. In addition, we have received many referrals of seniors living alone or requiring Mount Newton Services from the nurses in the Peninsula Health Unit.

Our longtime cook, Tina, is preparing delicious meals 3 days a week which are packaged and delivered by staff members, Karen, Dena, Lynn and Stephanie. Twice a week, Alix and Kal, are organizing grocery and pharmacy deliveries. Jim is keeping the building and our separate work spaces clean and safe. Tony, who has been an invaluable fixture at Mount Newton Centre for many years, is maintaining the grounds.

Linda, Edwina, Kelly and Jim continue to work hard in the Loan Cupboard keeping the equipment lending program going. At this time, they are still able to accommodate hospital referrals for equipment and are serving the public at reduced hours/by appointment. If you have equipment to pick up or return, please call ahead to arrange: 250-652-2112 (Monday – Friday from 9am to 12pm)

Mount Newton Centre will adapt as necessary, to the current situation the world is facing, and will always act with our community members’ best interests in mind.

If there are seniors living in the Saanich Peninsula community that are in need of services – please call your Island Health Case Manager who will notify us. If people do not have a Case Manager and are in need of services – please call and leave us a message at 250-652-3432 or email mncinquiry@shaw.ca

I was reading about a Zoom programme that you have set up for games/activities. I am not a member but recently widowed and have some health issues and self isolated due to covid pandemic. I think this may be helpful
    To me in this situation
